I'm (G)lovin' It.

Hi! Did you miss me? Did you even notice I stopped blogging? Did you care if I came back at all? Even if you answered "no" to all of the above, I still love and miss you (okay, maybe not if you answered "no" to the last question, because that's just cruel), and am here to do my best to make it up to you...with a post about gloves of course!

Normally by December, many cities would already have hit temperatures worthy of finger protected wear. Sadly, at least in New York City, this has not been the case. We are currently suffering from a fall heatwave, and have seen record temperatures reaching 70 degrees. 70 DEGREES!!! I have been waiting to bust out my winter wear for months and now I am stuck with warmth? Sure I don't want to tempt a snowstorm (oh wait, we already saw one in October), but I do not like to be mocked by all the sweaters and tights in my closet and dresser, just waiting...dying to be worn on a regular basis. And scarves! And gloves!

(Not hats of course, I look terrible in hats.)

Okay, I cannot tell a lie, I have a love/hate relationship with gloves. They are both a necessity and yet an imposition. They can look great yet prove worthless. I mean think about it:

- Cashmere lined leather gloves are not really all that warm. If it's cold enough to wear gloves at all, your fingertips are probably going to be frozen after being outside for too long. And the lining rips. And they aren't cheap.

- The super warm gloves are sooo bulky. Yes, they get the job done well, but you can't really do much while wearing them.

- Cell phones + gloves = fumble-y nightmare. Own a touchscreen phone and you know that even thin gloves are rendered useless. And while walking and texting is probably not the best idea, I do find myself needing to from time to time.

- Driving gloves are gorgeous but I live in New York City so I don't drive. (Okay, I don't drive because I hate it.) But even if I did like to drive, I'm still not sure I see the point of them. Other than the fact that they look pretty awesome. Which, I guess, is kind of a point...

But fret not! Despite the multitude of issues gloves can cause, I have a host of solutions! Some are incredibly overpriced and not practical in the slightest. The others, however, range in affordability and are easy to obtain.

Here you are in Fantasy to Reality order:

1) Hermes red driving gloves as seen on Peony Lim's blog. Gorgeous. Pointless. Amazing.

I mean. I died. Seriously.

2) Valentino studded driving gloves courtesy of net-a-porter.

Valentino? Studs? Yes please!

3) Super cozy, super bulky, I-have-a-pair-and-love-them Ugg Gloves via Bloomingdales.com

They are legit an Ugg boot for your hands. Definitely not the cutest gloves out there, but certainly one of the warmest.

2) For those touch screen phone owners who love their animal print (read: me)

Echo Touch gloves via Bloomingdales.com

1) Two pairs of acrylic gloves for $2 at Target. Please forgive my amateur photo and wrinkled duvet. Yes I said two pairs for TWO DOLLARS. I can't find them on the Target site, but I picked mine up at the 116th Street location.

Thin. Comfy. Stripey!

And thanks to our record-breaking December heat, I am ahead of the game for these recommendations. So now that you are prepared for the cold weather (if it ever comes), go and get your glove on.

Why...WHAT AN AMAZING BLOG POST IDEA! And thanks for jinxing the unseasonably warm weather and inviting mother nature to bring winter.

I WANT those studded gloves...not a) Valentino would make these for men or b) I could afford them with my student budget.
